This is for GBH by Ted Lewis, which should bloody well be in print, damn it! It deserves much better, and Lewis deserves better, than being forgotten about by the reading public. If you’re looking for British noir you really won’t do much better than this guy, or this novel.
Anyway, how many publishers in this insipid age of ours would dare to produce an image like this for the front cover of a novel. The publishers of the 70s and 80s used to produce things like this all the bloody time!
Hi Martin,
I can assure you Ted Lewis isn’t forgotten, I’m currently in the process of writing his biography, with the consent of his family. There is a move to bring the books back into print, but there is also a GBH movie been on the cards for some time and Lewis’s former agent is holding out for that. But your right, the book should certainly be in print.
There’s a short piece about TL on my blog.
Cheers

Hi Nick,
Alas, it sometimes feels as if he has been forgotten, but it is good to know that you have a biography in the pipeline and that GBH (IMHO the best of Lewis’ novels) has an adaptation on the cards. Any moves to get Lewis back in print (where he damn well belongs) are welcome. I’ll check out your link about TL. Here’s hoping your biography is a success and gets him noticed.
Cheers,
Martin
